If your Porsche breaks down in Dubai, first decide whether people are safe, then whether the car can be moved without increasing the danger. Stop in a safe place if possible, switch on the hazard lights and keep yourself and passengers clear of moving traffic. If there is injury, fire, immediate danger or an accident blocking live traffic, call the authorities before arranging vehicle recovery.

Emergency response comes first

The UAE Government’s emergency guidance lists 999 for police and 998 for ambulance. It says that after a minor accident with no injuries, a car may be moved to the shoulder to avoid blocking traffic. When anyone is injured, leave the vehicles in place and wait for an ambulance. Follow the instructions of the emergency operator. Dubai Police also provides 901 for non-emergency enquiries. A garage or recovery provider does not replace emergency services.

If the Porsche stops on a high-speed road, avoid standing beside the traffic-facing side or attempting a tyre change in an exposed lane. Move yourself to a safer place only when you can do so without crossing live traffic. Give responders your road, direction of travel, nearest exit or marker, and a location pin if available.

When not to restart

A no-start after ordinary parking is different from an engine that has stopped with a warning. Do not repeatedly restart or drive on if an oil-pressure or overheating warning is active, you see smoke or a substantial fluid leak, braking or steering feels abnormal, a wheel is displaced, or the car suffered an impact. Shut the engine off once stopped safely. A warning can point to several causes. The roadside symptom alone does not prove which part failed.

If the engine is hot, let the cooling system remain closed. If the car simply will not start, note whether the dashboard lights up, whether the engine cranks and the exact warning text. A discharged 12-volt battery is possible, but a jump-start that works once does not establish battery health or rule out a charging or starting fault. Follow the model-specific owner’s manual before any jump-start, especially on a Taycan or hybrid.

A successful jump-start gets the car moving. The battery and charging condition may still need checking.

A flat tyre changes the plan

Do not drive on a visibly flat tyre, cut sidewall or damaged wheel to reach a workshop. Pull over only as far as safety allows. Some Porsche configurations have a sealant and compressor, some have a spare or other equipment, and an impact may also have damaged the wheel or suspension. Check the Porsche owner’s manual for your model and year before using any supplied equipment. A sealant kit is not a remedy for every puncture.

A wheel change requires a safe work area, a usable replacement and the correct wheel-lock key. On a motorway shoulder or where the car cannot be secured safely, ask for recovery instead of attempting the change yourself. Photograph the damaged tyre and wheel from a safe position. Do not walk into moving traffic for a better picture.

Tyre damage, wheel condition and the availability of a usable spare decide whether the car can be helped on site or should be recovered.

Tell recovery about access

Low front clearance, a steep basement ramp, a height-restricted entrance or a wheel that cannot rotate can change the loading method. Do not allow the vehicle to be dragged by a locked wheel or its low bodywork. Tell the recovery operator if it will not select neutral, the steering is locked, a wheel is bent, suspension has collapsed or the underside touches the ground. The correct transport procedure depends on the exact model and fault, so have the operator check the vehicle-specific instructions before loading.

For a Taycan, hybrid or electric Macan, describe any high-voltage or charging warning and any collision damage. Keep clear of damaged orange high-voltage components. Do not attempt a repair or improvisation at the roadside. Porsche’s Breakdown Call guidance explains a manufacturer assistance option on eligible equipped cars, while noting that availability varies by region and that a serious accident or injury calls for emergency response.

What to tell recovery

  • Location exact pin, road and direction, parking level, entrance and height restriction. For emergency responders, add the nearest exit or marker.
  • Vehicle model and model year. Say whether it is petrol, hybrid or electric. Share the VIN privately if the operator needs it to find the correct procedure.
  • What happened exact warning text, no-crank versus crank-no-start, tyre or wheel damage, leak, smoke, overheating or impact.
  • Loading condition can the wheels rotate, does the steering turn, can neutral be selected and is the parking brake released? If unsure, say so rather than forcing a control.
  • Useful details a dashboard photo and vehicle-position photo only when they can be taken without approaching traffic.

If the car is safe where it stands, there is time to confirm the suitable equipment, destination and expected charge before a non-emergency recovery. After a collision, follow the police and insurer’s instructions about reporting and movement first.

Porsche assistance options

Porsche’s Breakdown Call can be started through the car’s PCM or My Porsche app on supported models when the relevant service is available and activated. It is for a technical fault or minor incident, not an emergency call. The feature and assistance terms vary by region, model, year and warranty. Check your own eligibility rather than assuming a recovery is included. Your insurer may also provide an assistance number.

When workshop help makes sense

A car that has overheated, lost oil pressure, suffered wheel or suspension damage, or remains unreliable after a start attempt should be checked before it returns to the road. The first task is to transport it safely. Workshop diagnosis comes after that. If you need help moving the car, Porsche roadside assistance can discuss the recovery options and current dispatch details. Share your location, model and exact warning.
