Porsche Macan Valve Cover Gasket
Repair oil leaking from the top of the Macan engine before it reaches hot exhaust or ignition parts. We identify the source and confirm the seals, labour and VAT before work begins.
Planning estimates start from AED 1,800, including normal fitting labour and 5% VAT.

Macan gasket replacement prices
Most Macan valve cover gasket repairs fall between AED 1,800 and AED 5,500. The engine layout, one or two cylinder banks, access time and whether the cover itself needs replacement determine the final total.
| Service | Estimated price | What the estimate includes |
|---|---|---|
| Leak inspection and cleaning | AED 250–500 | Initial visual check, accessible-area cleaning and confirmation of the next test. Free initial inspection may apply to relevant workshop enquiries. |
| Single cover or one-bank gasket | AED 1,800–3,200 | Correct gasket or seal set, normal removal and refitting labour, accessible-area cleaning and final leak check. |
| Both V6 cover gaskets | AED 3,200–5,500 | Matched left and right seal sets where both banks require work, normal labour, cleaning and post-repair checks. |
| Complete valve cover assembly | AED 2,800–6,500 | Replacement cover where the housing, integrated ventilation parts or sealing surface cannot be reused, plus normal fitting labour. |
| Oil-contaminated ignition parts | AED 450–2,200 | Cleaning or agreed replacement of plugs, coil boots or coils when oil has entered the plug wells. Added only when required. |
When the displayed range applies
The price assumes the confirmed leak is at the valve cover, the sealing surface and reusable parts are serviceable, access is normal and the correct gasket or cover is available.
Usually one working day
Both-bank work or an ordered cover can need more time.
What can change the total
Engine version, access, brittle hoses or connectors, damaged fasteners, a distorted cover, crankcase-ventilation faults and oil-contaminated ignition parts can add work.
Quoted separately
Unrelated timing-cover, vacuum-pump or oil-filter-housing leaks are not hidden inside the gasket price.
Signs the upper engine is leaking
A burning-oil smell or wet engine surface can point to a valve cover leak, but oil from another seal can spread into the same area. Confirming the highest fresh trace prevents the wrong gasket from being replaced.
Burning-oil smell
Oil may reach a hot exhaust shield or nearby surface, especially after a drive. Smoke requires prompt attention.
Oil around the cover
Fresh wetness can appear along the valve cover edge, fasteners or plug-well area. Old residue must be cleaned first.
Misfire or rough running
Oil inside a plug well can contaminate a coil boot or spark plug and contribute to a misfire. Fault codes still need testing.
Stop and call if smoke is building, oil is dripping onto hot components, the oil-pressure warning appears or the level is falling quickly. Do not continue driving solely to reach the workshop when there is a fire risk or a serious loss of lubrication.

Not every top-end leak is the gasket
Oil moves across castings, wiring and undertrays while the vehicle is driven. The visible drip can be lower than the component that is actually leaking.
- Valve cover gasket
- Usually leaves wetness along the cover-to-cylinder-head joint. It may also allow oil into a plug well, depending on the engine design.
- Complete valve cover
- A cracked or distorted cover, damaged sealing channel or integrated crankcase ventilation fault can make a complete assembly the better repair.
- Nearby oil source
- Timing cover joints, camshaft-related seals, vacuum-pump areas, oil-filter housings and other upper-engine points can create a similar trail.
The repair recommendation should name the confirmed source. For a broader leak that is not limited to the valve cover, see the workshop’s Porsche oil leak repair service.
What replacement includes
The written estimate separates the required seal, any related parts and work that is only needed after inspection. This prevents a low headline price from hiding essential labour or additional damage.
Normal replacement scope
Specified gasket or approved cover, normal access labour, refitting of serviceable removed parts, accessible-area cleaning and a final visual leak check.
Additional work stays separate
Cracked hoses, damaged connectors, coils, plugs, cover assemblies, crankcase-ventilation repairs, heavy degreasing, unrelated leaks and extended fault testing.
Matched to your Macan
Macan badges and model years do not identify a valve cover gasket by themselves. The engine, production details and fitted cover design decide the correct parts and labour.
Macan, Macan S, GTS and Turbo variants have used different four-cylinder and V6 petrol engines. A V6 can have two cover assemblies and more access work than a single-cover four-cylinder engine. Later engines can also use different ventilation and cover arrangements from earlier 95B models.
- Confirm the VIN, model year and engine application.
- Identify one-bank, both-bank or complete-cover work.
- Check plug wells, coils and nearby hoses while access is open.
Routine oil service does not repair an external gasket leak. If the Macan is also due for maintenance, the Macan oil change service can be quoted separately for the same visit.

How different repairs price out
These are representative quotations based on the displayed ranges, not claims about completed customer vehicles. Inspection and parts matching determine the final price.

AED 2,700
Planning total including 5% VAT.
2018 Macan Turbo both banks
Concern: Leakage confirmed at both cover joints with serviceable covers.
Included: Left and right gasket sets, normal access labour, cleaning and final checks.
AED 4,950
Planning total including 5% VAT.
All three example totals include 5% VAT. A cracked cover, coils, plugs, hoses, fasteners or another oil source changes the quotation.

Checks before collection
The repaired area is cleaned so old residue can be distinguished from a new leak. The engine is run, the oil level is checked and disturbed components are reviewed before handover.
Arrange your leak check
Contact AMF Auto Services LLC in Al Quoz 4 with the Macan year, badge and what you have noticed. You do not need to diagnose the gasket yourself.
A photo of the wet area, smoke or oil on the undertray can help the first conversation, but it is optional. If parts identification requires the VIN, the team can request it after your enquiry.
Free pickup and delivery can be arranged in Dubai, subject to availability and vehicle condition. Tell the workshop if smoke is present or the oil level is dropping so suitable transport can be discussed.
Tell us what changed
- Macan model year and badge.
- Burning smell, smoke, visible wetness or oil spots.
- Any warning, misfire or recent oil top-up.
The workshop can confirm whether the vehicle is suitable to drive after hearing the symptoms.
Macan valve cover gasket FAQs
How much does Macan valve cover gasket replacement cost?
Planning estimates are AED 1,800–3,200 for a single cover or one-bank gasket and AED 3,200–5,500 when both V6 banks require gaskets. A complete valve cover assembly can be AED 2,800–6,500. These ranges include normal fitting labour and 5% VAT.
Can I drive with a valve cover oil leak?
A light seep with a stable oil level may allow a short workshop visit after advice. Do not continue driving when oil is dripping onto hot parts, smoke is building, the oil-pressure warning appears, the level is falling quickly or the engine is misfiring.
How do you confirm the gasket is leaking?
The engine is inspected from above and below, accessible residue is cleaned and the highest fresh oil trace is identified. This helps separate a valve cover leak from timing-cover joints, ventilation problems and other nearby oil sources.
Does a leaking gasket cause a misfire?
It can contribute when oil enters a spark-plug well and contaminates the plug or coil boot. A misfire can also have unrelated ignition, fuel, air or mechanical causes, so fault codes and component checks still matter.
Do both V6 valve cover gaskets need replacing together?
Not automatically. Both banks are checked, but one-bank replacement can be appropriate when the other side remains dry and serviceable. Replacing both can make sense when both are leaking or show comparable deterioration.
When is a complete valve cover required?
A complete cover may be required when the housing is cracked or distorted, the sealing channel is damaged, or an integrated crankcase ventilation component has failed. The reason should be shown on the quotation.
How long does the repair take?
A straightforward gasket replacement is commonly planned for one working day when parts are available. Both-bank work, a complete cover, damaged hardware or additional leak diagnosis can take longer.
Is the repair covered by a warranty?
Eligible approved repairs follow the workshop warranty policy and job documents. Coverage depends on the supplied parts and the work listed on the approved quotation and invoice.
