What changes the total?
Generation, original or alternative parts, usable electronics and the availability of a working key affect the price. Later keys and special orders can exceed the guide. Do not add the programming row to a replacement price that already includes it.
All-keys-lost work, lock repairs, vehicle security modules and extended electrical testing are quoted separately. Battery and case prices assume the remaining key components are reusable.
How long will it take?
A straightforward battery, button or case repair may be possible the same day, subject to assessment and parts. Allow additional time for board repair, ordered keys or programming complications.
We confirm the expected handover with your quotation. Free pickup and delivery can be arranged; this does not mean every key can be programmed at your location.
When a repair makes sense
A remote with worn buttons or a cracked case does not always need complete replacement. We check which parts can be retained and quote the repair that restores the missing function.
- Weak range: check the battery and contacts, then the remote signal if needed.
- Buttons that do not respond: inspect the rubber buttons, microswitches and their connections.
- A split or damaged case: fit a matching shell while retaining sound electronics and the required security components.
- Damage after a drop or water exposure: assess whether the board remains repairable before promising a repair.
Changing the outer shell does not create a new programmed key. A remote repair also cannot correct a damaged door lock or an unrelated vehicle electrical fault.
If a key gets wet, stop pressing its buttons and arrange assessment promptly. Corrosion can continue after the outside appears dry. Keep the original key and any loose pieces for inspection.
Spare keys and replacements
A working spare can save the disruption of losing the only key. We compare a suitable new replacement with repairing the original, then confirm the fitted functions and total.
- Original replacement
- A Porsche Genuine key must match the vehicle and may require ordering and programming. The quote identifies the supplied part and lead time.
- Compatible alternative
- Where supported, a named alternative may reduce the cost. We confirm which remote, starting and entry functions it supports before supply.
- Customer-supplied key
- Send a photograph or part details if you already have one. A matching appearance does not establish that its electronics can be programmed to your Boxster.
A cheap empty case is not a complete key. A blade that opens a door is not automatically authorized to start the engine. Used keys may be locked to another car or lack required information, so discuss compatibility before buying.
Keys across Boxster generations
Boxster, Boxster S, GTS and Spyder badges do not identify the complete key specification. The year, original market and fitted equipment help us select the right electronics.
The blade, remote locking signal and immobilizer authorization perform different jobs. Replacing the remote battery does not automatically mean that the immobilizer needs reprogramming.
Tell us whether the car starts, whether one or both keys are affected and whether the problem began after damage or a battery change. That is enough to start the conversation; we can request the VIN later for parts matching.

- Retain the original key electronics, transponder and available key documentation. Worn buttons and cases can often be addressed separately from vehicle security electronics.
- 987 Boxster
- Confirm the correct remote and programming requirements. An outer case that looks right is not proof that a replacement is compatible.

Help when the car cannot start
No working key remains
Call with the model and vehicle location. We arrange an assessment of the replacement and collection requirements. Expect to provide photo identification and evidence that you own the car or are authorized to request the work.
All-keys-lost work can involve extra access, ordering and programming costs. We confirm these before proceeding, rather than treating it as an ordinary spare-key job.
A key is missing or stolen
Ask about removing the missing key’s electronic authorization where supported, and bring the remaining keys. Electronic deactivation does not change the mechanical door lock; discuss that separately if the missing blade poses a concern.
Both keys have stopped working

Check every fitted function
Before handover, the key needs to work with the car, not simply transmit a signal on the bench. We check the functions included in the repair or replacement.
- Remote lock and unlock response and usable range.
- Normal starting authorization for a repaired or supplied starting key.
- Luggage-compartment buttons and entry functions where fitted and included.
- The condition and operation of the blade, case and remaining keys as relevant.
Bring the car and remaining keys for programming when requested. We explain any unrelated lock, alarm or vehicle faults found during the visit and price further work separately.
Keep the spare somewhere accessible outside the car. If the main key becomes unreliable, arrange repair while you still have another way to use the vehicle.

How much does a Boxster replacement key cost?
Budget AED 1,000–2,500+ including 5% VAT for a compatible new key with normal cutting, supported programming and testing. The exact key, original parts, generation and whether a working key remains can change the total. All-keys-lost work is assessed separately.
Does changing the key battery require programming?
Not automatically. A battery change and immobilizer programming are different tasks. If the remote still fails, we check the battery fitment, contacts and signal, then any synchronization procedure applicable to the car.
Can you repair my key instead of replacing it?
Often, if the problem is a worn button, damaged case or repairable electronic fault. The original security components must remain serviceable for the planned repair. We explain when replacement is the more dependable choice.
Can a Boxster start if the remote buttons do not work?
It can on some cars when the starting authorization still works. Remote locking and engine-start authorization are distinct functions. The correct emergency procedure depends on the model; a mechanical blade alone does not replace electronic authorization.
Can you program a used key bought online?
Only after checking the exact key and whether supported adaptation is possible. Some used keys cannot be reused for another vehicle. Send the available part details before paying for a donor key or empty case.
Can you help if I have lost every key?
Yes, contact us to arrange assessment and suitable assistance. We confirm ownership or authority, vehicle access, key supply and the supported programming work before giving the complete quotation and timing.
Will deleting a lost key stop it opening the door?
Removing electronic authorization where supported can prevent electronic functions covered by that procedure. It does not recut the mechanical lock. If the missing key blade remains a concern, discuss the lock separately.
Can I book pickup instead of driving over?
Yes. Free pickup and delivery can be arranged around the appointment and vehicle access. Tell us the model, what happened and the location. We confirm how the car will be brought in and do not assume every programming job can be completed roadside.
