What can change the price?
Mid-engine access, seized fasteners, cylinder damage and specialist machining can increase labour and parts costs. Does a check-engine light mean I need a replacement engine?
Usually, the warning alone cannot tell you that. Ignition coils, spark plugs, air leaks, fuel delivery and sensors can cause engine warnings without internal engine damage. Tell us whether the light is steady or flashing and whether the car is running roughly. Replacement is considered only when the actual fault and repair costs justify it.
Can you repair my Boxster engine instead of replacing it?
Yes, where the damage is limited and the remaining engine is serviceable. Fixing a leak, air-oil separator, cooling fault or cylinder-head problem can preserve the existing engine. Can you collect a Boxster that is not safe to drive?
