911 odometer repair prices
These are service-planning estimates based on the price guidance previously published on this page, updated to show 5% VAT. They are not confirmed quotations for every cluster or generation.
| Service | Estimated total | Typical inclusion |
|---|---|---|
| Repairable odometer or cluster fault | AED 1,575–3,150 | Agreed in-car checks, ordinary removal and refitting where required, repair of the identified serviceable fault and final function check. |
| Replacement or complex cluster work | AED 3,150–6,300+ | An available compatible unit or complex repair, with the supplied part’s condition, setup and documentation stated on the quotation. |
| Classic separate-gauge repair | Quote after inspection | Assessment of the fitted instrument, counter mechanism, connections and available parts before a repair price is confirmed. |
| Vehicle-side electrical fault | Separate quotation | Extended wiring, power, ground, communication or signal testing when the fault is outside the instrument. |
Do not add the rows together. A loose instrument sent for bench work and a complete drive-in job are different services. Unrelated wiring repair, water-damage restoration, replacement assemblies, coding beyond the stated work, courier charges and other dashboard faults are excluded unless listed.
What changes the price?
The 911 generation, separate gauge or combined cluster, intermittent versus permanent fault, previous repairs, water damage, part availability and any replacement-unit setup all affect the total.
How long should you allow?
An initial assessment may be possible the same working day. A straightforward bench repair commonly needs one to three working days. Parts sourcing, intermittent faults and programming can extend the visit.
Send the model year, dashboard photo, current displayed mileage and exact symptom. We confirm the included work, VAT and expected completion time before you approve it.

Which display has failed?
“The cluster is broken” can describe several different faults. A useful quotation starts by separating total mileage, trip distance, road speed and the rest of the instrument panel.
Total mileage blank or frozen: the stored distance may still exist even when the display or counter no longer works. Do not assume the reading is lost or order a replacement unit before the original instrument is assessed.
Trip counter only: a resettable trip display can fail while total mileage remains visible. On some earlier gauges, an internal counter mechanism is relevant; later systems require cluster-specific checking.
Speed and distance affected together: the shared fault may involve the instrument, its supply, a connection or the information reaching it. If road speed is the main complaint, see our 911 speedometer repair page.
Whole cluster or several gauges affected: tell us about dimming, warning messages, illumination, battery work and intermittent resets. The problem may extend beyond the odometer display.
Keep the original unit where practical
An original instrument can be worth retaining when its identified fault is repairable and the remaining housing, display and electronics are sound.
A replacement becomes relevant when damage is extensive, a required component is unavailable or the repair is no longer dependable. New, refurbished and used units must be described accurately because their price, condition and setup requirements differ.
A compatible part number alone may not settle the job. Units, market specification, fitted equipment, coding and distance-history documentation can matter. The workshop should identify these requirements before ordering a cluster.
Previous repair marks, corrosion, broken housings and water exposure can change the repair decision. Tell us if the dashboard was recently removed or the cluster failed after battery, wiring or audio work.
The invoice should identify the repaired or replacement unit and the work completed. Keep it with the vehicle history, especially when the displayed mileage or cluster has changed.

From fault to working display
The aim is to restore the correct function and leave a clear record of what was repaired, fitted and verified.
- Confirm the complaint
We note whether total mileage, trip distance, speed, illumination or the whole cluster is affected and whether the fault is permanent or intermittent.
- Check the fitted system
Applicable supplies, grounds, connections, communication and instrument operation are checked. A scan can direct testing, but a stored fault code does not by itself prove that the cluster must be replaced.
- Quote repair or replacement
The written quotation distinguishes in-car diagnosis, removal, bench repair, supplied parts, refitting, setup and final checks. Extra work needs approval.
- Verify and document
After refitting, the affected display and related functions are checked. The invoice records the work and any relevant replacement-unit information.
One name, different instruments
- Classic 911, 964 and 993
A separate speedometer and distance counter may use serviceable internal mechanisms and generation-specific electronics. Originality, units and past gauge work matter.
- 996 and 997
The combined cluster, its displays and vehicle communication need assessing together. Other dead gauges or warnings can change the direction of testing.
- 991 and 992
Later integrated displays and control-unit relationships require an exact model and equipment match. Replacement and configuration needs are confirmed before parts are ordered.
Keep the mileage record clear
A repaired display should support the vehicle’s history, not create uncertainty about it.
Record the mileage shown before work, keep photographs and retain the invoice. If a replacement is needed, document the old unit, the supplied unit and the relevant setup. Imported cars and earlier cluster changes should be disclosed when known.
We do not describe this work as mileage rollback or alteration intended to conceal use. Questions about sale, insurance, registration or another provider’s requirements should be checked with the relevant authority or organisation.
Bring useful information
- Dashboard photograph
Photograph the display safely while the car is stationary, including any message or missing segment.
- Service and repair records
Previous cluster invoices and recent battery or electrical work can prevent incorrect assumptions.
- Exact symptom
Say when the fault appears, which functions remain normal and whether restarting temporarily restores the display.
Helpful communication throughout

How much does Porsche 911 odometer repair cost?
Use AED 1,575–3,150 including 5% VAT as a planning estimate for a repairable odometer or cluster fault. A compatible replacement or complex cluster job is estimated at AED 3,150–6,300 or more including VAT. These figures are based on this page’s previous published price guide, with VAT shown clearly. The written quotation confirms the exact work and total.
Is the odometer the same as the speedometer?
No. The speedometer shows current road speed, while the odometer records total distance and usually includes a resettable trip counter. They may share the same instrument or cluster, but one function can fail while the other still works. Tell us which reading is affected.
Can the original 911 odometer be repaired?
Often, yes. Earlier instruments may have a repairable counter mechanism or internal component, while later clusters may have display, circuit, power or communication faults. The existing unit must be inspected before repairability can be confirmed.
Will you change or reset the recorded mileage?
The purpose of this service is to restore an accurate display and preserve the vehicle’s documented history. We do not describe a repair as mileage rollback or offer alteration intended to hide a car’s use. If a replacement cluster is required, the quotation and invoice should record the relevant old and new unit information.
How long does the repair take?
An initial in-car assessment may be possible on the same working day when the fault is present. A straightforward bench repair commonly needs around one to three working days. Intermittent faults, damaged circuits, replacement-unit sourcing or programming can take longer, so the collection estimate is confirmed after inspection.
Can I send only the instrument cluster?
Ask before removing it. Bench work may suit a clearly identified internal fault, but a loose cluster cannot prove that the vehicle’s power supply, wiring, network or input signals are correct. Agree removal, transport, refitting and final in-car testing before sending a unit.
What should I send with my enquiry?
Send the model year, variant, a clear dashboard photograph, the current displayed mileage and a short description of the fault. Mention whether the speed display, trip counter, illumination, warning messages or other gauges also fail, and whether the cluster has been replaced before.
Does the repair have a warranty?
Where original parts are supplied and fitted by us, eligible related repair work may carry PorscheGarage’s 12-month warranty, subject to the invoice and warranty policy. The written quotation confirms whether the planned repair is covered. See the warranty policy for the applicable terms.
