Useful prices up front

Typical bonnet repair estimates

General guide prices are AED 525–840 for small paintless repairs, AED 945–1,575 for limited repair and refinishing, and AED 1,890–3,150 for larger repairable damage. All prices include 5% VAT.

The three example jobs below show what these budgets can cover. They are estimates, not completed customer jobs or fixed-price offers. Inspection confirms the work and written total before approval.

Paint intact

Small bonnet dent removal

AED 630

One shallow dent with intact paint and suitable access for paintless repair.

Includes: Dent-removal labour and a surface check.

Excludes: Repainting, replacement parts, sharp creases and additional dents.

Planning time: A few hours for a straightforward repair.

Paint damaged

Local dent and paint repair

AED 1,260

A limited dent with paint damage on an otherwise repairable bonnet.

Includes: Local reshaping, surface preparation, paint materials and refinishing of the agreed area.

Excludes: Full-panel repainting, adjacent-panel blending, film replacement and hardware.

Planning time: Allow 1–3 working days.

Panel still repairable

Larger bonnet dent and refinishing

AED 2,520

Larger outer-panel damage with sound reinforcement and mounting points.

Includes: Agreed panel reshaping, preparation, bonnet refinishing and fit checks.

Excludes: A replacement bonnet, hinges, latch, adjacent-panel blending or underlying front-end repairs.

Planning time: Allow 3–5 working days.

Need a replacement bonnet? A provisional panel-only budget is AED 2,625–7,350 including VAT, depending on specification and supply. Fitting, preparation, paint, shipping and any separate latch or hinge repairs are additional unless itemised. We confirm the complete fitted total against your VIN before ordering.

Sharp creases, restricted access, previous filler, peeling clear coat, metallic or pearl finishes, film removal and damage beneath the bonnet can increase the bill. Timings are estimates after approval and parts availability, not a guaranteed collection date.

The initial damage check is free. Any dismantling or extended electrical testing needed for a release fault is agreed separately before it starts.

Preserve the existing finish

Can the dent come out without paint?

Paintless dent repair, or PDR, can restore suitable shallow dents without sanding or repainting. It is worth considering when the original finish is sound, because it avoids unnecessary paintwork on an otherwise presentable bonnet.

  • Paint condition. Cracked paint, lifting lacquer or previous filler can rule out a clean paintless result.
  • Dent position. A sharp crease, stretched area or folded edge is harder to recover than a shallow depression.
  • Access and material. Bracing beneath the panel and the bonnet’s construction affect which techniques are suitable.

Send one wider photo and close-ups from two angles in daylight. Reflections show the shape more clearly than a straight-on photograph. We can explain the likely method before you arrange a visit, then confirm it after seeing the car.

A complete bonnet repair

Finish, fit and reliable operation

Match the surrounding paint

Scratches through the colour coat, stone-chip damage and peeling clear coat may need preparation and refinishing. Polishing can improve some superficial marks, but it cannot remove a dent or replace missing paint.

Paint matching starts with the colour specification and a comparison against the finish already on the car. Age, previous paintwork and metallic effects can influence the match. The quotation should state whether the bonnet alone will be painted or an adjacent panel needs blending.

If paint protection film or a wrap covers the damage, tell us before booking. Removal and replacement are separate items unless included. After refinishing, follow the supplied curing and care advice before polishing, coating or fitting new film.

Sort the latch and alignment

A bonnet that sits high, leaves uneven gaps or needs repeated slamming may have a latch, striker, hinge, stop or alignment problem. A weak support strut is a different repair from a damaged panel. We identify the failed component and quote it separately.

If the front luggage compartment will not open, the release mechanism, electrical supply or cable arrangement needs checking for the specific model. A discharged battery can affect an electrically operated release. Do not pry the panel or force the latch; paint and surrounding trim can be damaged.

If the bonnet does not latch securely, do not drive. Call us to arrange collection. A visible panel gap after an impact also needs checking beneath the outer skin before cosmetic work is approved.

Choose a lasting repair

When a new bonnet makes sense

Repair a sound panel

Retaining the original bonnet makes sense when its shape can be recovered, the inner reinforcement and mounting areas remain sound, and it can close correctly. Compare the achievable finish and full labour cost with replacement before deciding.

Cosmetic repair should not conceal damage around the latch or hinge mountings. If the impact also involved a wing, bumper or front support area, our Porsche body-repair service covers the wider assessment.

Replace a compromised panel

Severe folding, torn material, damaged reinforcement or mounting areas can make replacement the better choice. We explain what can safely be retained and price the panel, fitting, finishing and required hardware together.

Genuine Porsche, suitable alternative or serviceable used panels can be discussed where available. A used part may still need repair or paint. Availability, condition and fit must be confirmed; a low panel-only price does not establish the final repair cost.

Before the car comes back

Details that matter at collection

  • Panel shape and gaps. Check the bonnet against the wings, headlights and bumper, rather than judging the paint alone.
  • Release and secure closure. Confirm that the latch engages, the release operates and support struts hold the lid safely.
  • Finish and repaired edges. Review colour, gloss, surface appearance and any agreed limitations in suitable light.
  • What was repaired. The invoice identifies the work and parts, with paint-care advice and separate findings made clear.

Before you book

Boxster hood repair FAQs

If you mean the folding fabric roof, visit our Boxster convertible-top repair page for roof movement, seals and covering work.

For a front bonnet enquiry, a few clear photos and the model year are a useful starting point.

Does “hood repair” mean the bonnet or the soft top?

This page covers the front bonnet over the luggage compartment. Some owners use “hood” for the convertible soft top. Roof fabric, mechanisms and water leaks are covered by our separate Boxster convertible-top service.

How much does a Boxster bonnet repair cost?

Small paintless repairs have an indicative budget of AED 525–840 including 5% VAT. Repair and refinishing estimates range from AED 945 to AED 3,150 for the work described above. Replacement panels, fitting and extra damage need an individual quotation.

Can every dent be repaired without repainting?

No. Paint condition, access, material, location and the amount of stretching matter. Sharp creases, broken paint and damaged edges may require conventional repair and refinishing, or panel replacement.

Do you work on 986, 987, 981 and 718 Boxsters?

Enquiries are welcome for these generations, including S and other variants. The VIN identifies the required bonnet, latch and hardware. Parts and repair suitability are checked for the actual vehicle rather than assumed interchangeable.

Why does my bonnet stay shut after a flat battery?

An electrically operated release may not function without an adequate power supply, although a separate release or latch fault is also possible. Ask for model-specific assistance. Do not force the bonnet open or connect power to unidentified points.

Can you fix a bonnet that will not stay open?

Worn support struts can cause the lid to fall or fail to hold its position. Have the support system checked and keep clear of an unsupported lid. Strut replacement is quoted separately from dent repair or repainting.

Will the repaired paint match perfectly?

The aim is a close match in colour, gloss and appearance. Existing paint condition, previous repairs and metallic or pearl effects influence the work needed. We explain any blending requirement or achievable-finish limitation before approval.

How long will my Boxster be off the road?

A straightforward paintless repair may take a few hours. Allow around 1–3 working days for limited repair and paint, or 3–5 for larger repairable damage. Replacement-part lead times and additional damage can extend this; the workshop confirms the collection plan.
