Porsche 928 Fuel Injector Service in Dubai
Rough idle, difficult starting, fuel smell or uneven power can point to an injector problem—but pressure, ignition and air leaks can feel similar. We identify the injection system fitted to your 928, test the fault and quote the right cleaning, resealing or replacement work.

928 fuel injector prices
These are market-based planning estimates for Dubai, not fixed workshop prices. They include 5% VAT and assume normal access. Your written quotation confirms the injection system, parts, labour, tests and VAT before work starts.
| Work | Planning estimate | Usually included |
|---|---|---|
| Fuel-injection fault testing | AED 450–950 | Accessible fuel-pressure, electrical or mechanical checks and fault confirmation. Parts and major dismantling are separate. |
| Electronic injector cleaning and reseal, set of eight | AED 1,600–3,200 | Normal removal, off-car cleaning or flow assessment, serviceable seals, refitting and visible leak check. |
| One electronic injector replacement | AED 650–1,400 | Compatible injector, seals and normal fitting. Matching, intake work or damaged connectors may alter the total. |
| Matched electronic injector set replacement | AED 4,200–10,500 | Eight compatible injectors, normal fitting, seals and final running checks. Price depends heavily on brand and availability. |
| Early CIS mechanical injector set | AED 3,000–7,500 | Compatible mechanical injectors and normal fitting after the fuel distributor, pressure and lines are assessed. |
System, parts and access
Early mechanical and later electronic systems use different injectors and tests. Model year, market specification, part number, new or professionally refurbished parts, brittle hoses, intake seals and previous repairs all affect the quotation.
Usually one to three working days
Testing and a straightforward cleaning or single-injector job may fit within one working day when parts are ready. A full set, intake resealing, scarce parts or an early CIS fault can take longer.
For a useful estimate: send the model year or VIN, whether the engine is cold or warm when the symptom appears, and any recent fuel-system work. A short running video can also help us choose the first check.

Which injection system is on your 928?
The Porsche 928 was produced across several generations and markets, so “928 injector” is not one interchangeable part. We confirm the car and the fitted hardware before ordering anything.
- Early K-Jetronic or CIS cars
- These use mechanical continuous-injection components. Injector condition must be considered alongside control pressure, fuel delivery, the fuel distributor and cold-start system.
- Later LH-Jetronic cars
- These use electrically controlled port injectors. Resistance, power supply, connectors, spray pattern and flow balance can be checked as appropriate.
- Market and year variations
- US, European and other market cars can differ. The VIN, model year, engine details and part number prevent an expensive mismatch.
- Originality and prior repairs
- A 928 may have been modified or fitted with superseded parts during its long life. We identify what is actually on the car, not what a generic catalogue assumes.
Typical Porsche 928 injector estimates
These VAT-inclusive examples show the assumptions behind a likely bill. They are not customer invoices or fixed offers; the inspection and parts availability determine the written price.
Later 928 injector cleaning and reseal
All eight electronic injectors are removable and suitable for cleaning; the rail, wiring and intake hardware remain serviceable.
AED 1,600–3,200
- Work: normal removal, cleaning or flow assessment and refitting.
- Included: serviceable injector seals and visible leak check.
- Separate if needed: failed injectors, connectors, intake seals or fuel-rail repairs.
Two confirmed electronic injectors replaced
Testing identifies two faulty injectors and compatible replacements are available without extra intake or wiring work.
AED 1,600–3,400
- Parts: two compatible injectors and required seals.
- Work: normal fitting and comparison with the remaining bank.
- Separate if needed: full-set matching, brittle connectors or manifold resealing.
Early CIS mechanical injector set
Eight mechanical injectors are confirmed unsuitable and the fuel distributor, lines and surrounding components remain serviceable.
AED 3,000–7,500
- Parts: compatible set selected for the confirmed application.
- Work: normal fitting, sealing and running checks.
- Separate if needed: fuel-distributor, warm-up regulator, line or intake work.
All three figures include 5% VAT. Parts subject to availability; unusual corrosion, seized fittings and previous modifications are quoted separately.
Symptoms that justify an injector check
A faulty or restricted injector can make one cylinder—or an entire bank—run differently. The pattern matters more than any single symptom.
- Rough or hunting idle
- Uneven fuel delivery can disturb idle, but vacuum leaks, ignition faults and incorrect control pressure can produce similar behaviour.
- Hard cold or hot starting
- A leaking injector may allow fuel into the intake after shutdown; restricted delivery or a cold-start fault can create the opposite problem.
- Misfire or hesitation
- An injector that delivers too little fuel may be most noticeable under load. Electrical and ignition checks help avoid blaming the injector without proof.
- Fuel smell, smoke or poor economy
- Excess fuel can come from a leaking injector, pressure-control fault or other mixture problem. A visible leak needs immediate attention.

What the injector actually needs
Cleaning is worthwhile only when deposits or uneven flow are the problem. Replacement is the safer choice when an injector leaks, has an electrical failure, is damaged or cannot be brought back within a useful balance.
- Clean and reseal
- Suitable electronic injectors can be assessed off the car, cleaned and fitted with appropriate serviceable seals when the bodies and electrical components remain sound.
- Replace one or two
- Possible when testing isolates individual failures and compatible injectors can be matched sensibly to the remaining set.
- Replace the full set
- Often considered when several injectors are out of balance, old parts are unreliable, or consistent delivery across the V8 cannot otherwise be achieved.
- Correct another cause
- Low fuel pressure, a control fault, air leak, ignition problem or wiring damage must be repaired instead of selling injectors that will not solve the complaint.
How injector service works
The test method changes between early CIS and later electronic injection, but the customer journey stays clear. We confirm the car, identify the cause, agree the work and verify the result.
- 01
Identify the system
Record the model year or VIN, fitted injection hardware, symptoms and relevant recent work so the correct parts and tests are used.
- 02
Confirm the cause
Check the relevant fuel delivery, injector operation, electrical supply, ignition condition and intake sealing before recommending parts.
- 03
Agree the repair
Explain whether cleaning, resealing or replacement is suitable, then confirm parts, labour, exclusions, 5% VAT and timing in writing.
- 04
Complete final checks
Fit the agreed parts, inspect for leaks and recheck starting, idle and running quality before the car is handed over.
Porsche 928 fuel injector FAQs
Can Porsche 928 fuel injectors be cleaned?
Many later electronic injectors can be removed, assessed and professionally cleaned if the body and electrical winding remain serviceable. A leaking, electrically failed or damaged injector may need replacement. Early CIS mechanical injectors require different testing and are not treated as the same part.
Should all eight injectors be replaced together?
Not automatically. One or two confirmed failures can sometimes be replaced with compatible parts, while a full matched set may make more sense when several injectors are out of balance or old parts cannot be matched reliably. The test results and part availability guide the decision.
Why does the model year matter?
The 928 used different injection systems and part numbers across its production life and markets. Early K-Jetronic or CIS cars use mechanical continuous injectors, while later LH-Jetronic cars use electronic port injectors. We confirm the VIN, year and fitted parts before ordering.
Can a bad injector cause a fuel smell?
Yes. A leaking injector or seal can contribute to a fuel smell, rich running or difficult hot starting. Fuel hoses, rails, connections and pressure-control components can also leak. If you see liquid fuel or smell a strong fresh-fuel odour, stop driving and arrange an inspection.
How long does injector work take?
Accessible testing or a straightforward electronic injector service may be completed within one working day when parts are available. Full-set work, intake resealing, scarce classic parts or CIS diagnosis can take two to three working days or longer. The quotation includes an expected handover time.
Are the prices fixed?
No. The figures on this page are VAT-inclusive planning estimates. The confirmed price depends on the injection system, part number, parts choice, access, surrounding condition and whether another fuel, ignition or air leak is responsible. We provide a written quotation after inspection.
