Front, rear or both?
Pads are replaced as a matched set across an axle. The front and rear can be due at different times, so a warning should not automatically lead to replacing all four wheels’ pads.
Check both front wheels
The front set is matched to the installed calipers and discs. We compare the inner and outer pad faces on each side, rather than judge the axle from the most visible outer pad.
Repeatedly uneven wear needs attention to the caliper and fittings. A new pad set may wear unevenly again if the underlying cause remains.
Include the correct procedure
Rear pad fitting follows the procedure for the Macan’s installed brake and parking-brake arrangement. We confirm the required service settings and checks before work starts.
A parking-brake warning may concern a separate mechanism or electrical fault. Replacing the foot-brake pads alone does not resolve every parking-brake complaint.
If one axle still has useful life, we explain that finding. Where both need work, the quotation identifies each pad set and any shared labour clearly.
Parts matched to your Macan
Porsche Genuine pads and suitable supplier-branded alternatives offer different purchase prices. Ask for the actual manufacturer and application, not just an “OEM” label. Being made by an original-equipment supplier does not establish that every pad in its range is identical to a Porsche-branded part.
The 95B Macan, S, GTS and Turbo can have different brake equipment. Macan Electric parts must be identified separately. The year, VIN and actual hardware are more useful than a trim badge or caliper colour, especially after a previous conversion.
Tell us if you are concerned about dust, squeal or track use. A low-dust or track-focused compound is not automatically the right choice for everyday driving, and “ceramic pad” does not mean compatible with ceramic-composite discs.
Do the discs need replacing?
New pads can be fitted to serviceable discs. We check disc thickness against the applicable limit and assess both faces for scoring, cracking, heat damage and surface condition before recommending reuse.
A visible lip alone does not describe the remaining usable thickness. Equally, a disc that looks clean may already be too thin. The replacement decision should have a clear reason that you can understand.
- Pads only when the discs and calipers remain suitable for service.
- Pads and discs when wear measurements or damage require an axle replacement.
- Separate caliper or hydraulic work when leakage, restricted movement or another fault is found.
Disc skimming is not a universal alternative to replacement. Material, remaining thickness and the applicable procedure determine whether machining is permissible. Coated and ceramic systems need their own assessment.

Warnings, wear and brake feel
A pad-wear message means the brakes need checking soon. The monitored sensor does not measure every pad face, so we inspect the whole axle and check for uneven wear. A worn-through or damaged sensor is replaced as required by the fitted system.
Squeal can come from pad material, surface condition or vibration. Grinding, a marked change in braking, or a hot dragging wheel needs prompt attention. Dust by itself is not proof that the pads are due, although a large difference between wheels is worth investigating.
Stop safely and arrange assistance if braking is reduced, the pedal sinks, fluid is leaking, a wheel smokes or a serious brake warning appears. Tell the team before collection if the Macan cannot be driven safely.
There is no dependable mileage interval for every owner. Remaining friction material, wear pattern and brake condition matter more than a generic replacement distance. Checking early can avoid wearing a pad down to its backing and damaging an otherwise usable disc.

Do I need front and rear pads together?
Only if both axles need them. Pads are replaced as matched left-and-right axle sets. We compare front and rear condition so a worn front set does not automatically become an all-four-wheels replacement.
Can the existing wear sensor stay?
A sensor that is damaged or worn through needs replacement. Whether an untriggered sensor can be retained depends on its condition and the requirements of the fitted brake system. The quote identifies any new sensors.
Will the brake warning go away?
After the correct repair, we check the relevant warning and follow any required system procedure. Resetting a message without replacing worn parts or correcting damaged wiring does not solve the fault.
Will new pads stop brake judder?
Not always. Disc condition, deposits, uneven wear, caliper problems, wheels or suspension can contribute to vibration. The complaint is assessed so the quotation addresses the cause rather than promising that pads alone will cure it.
Can you quote for a Macan Electric?
