Which Porsche features are owner settings, factory options or connected services? Check model-year examples for memory, mirrors and navigation before assuming a function can be activated.

Some useful Porsche features are ordinary owner settings: a fitted memory package can recall seat and mirror positions, while compatible Porsche Communication Management (PCM) systems can use driver profiles and connected navigation. Whether you have a particular control depends on the model year, factory equipment, Porsche ID or service contract, and country. A menu that is absent is not proof that a safety function is installed but disabled.

Start with the VIN-specific Porsche owner’s manual and your vehicle’s equipment list. Then check the car’s PCM and, for online functions, the Porsche Connect Store for the vehicle registered in the UAE. The examples below show what Porsche documents for stated model years. They are not a promise that every UAE car has the same equipment or menu.

Four kinds of Porsche feature

  • Owner preference: a documented control you can set through the vehicle menu or memory buttons when the necessary equipment is fitted. Examples include a driver profile, seat memory and certain display or navigation preferences.
  • Factory option: a hardware or software package specified for the car when built. A missing mirror, seat, camera or chassis option is not usually restored by changing a hidden menu.
  • Connected or purchased function: an online service or eligible Function on Demand shown for that vehicle in the official Porsche account or Connect Store. Eligibility, terms and country availability must be checked for the specific car.
  • Workshop diagnosis or calibration: a repair procedure for a fault or after specified work. Calibration is not an owner preference and should not be presented as a way to alter safety intervention.

Porsche’s Function on Demand guidance gives Taycan model years 2020–2024 as a specific example of eligible functions bought after delivery. It says the Connect Store shows what is available for that car and that absence from the store can mean the vehicle is ineligible or lacks the required hardware. An absent function should not be treated as a hidden coding job.

Memory and mirror settings

For a Taycan from model year 2023, Porsche describes a linked Porsche ID profile that can restore comfort preferences associated with the key. The separate Comfort Memory Package can save seat, exterior mirror and steering-wheel positions using the memory buttons when that package is fitted. Porsche gives the same type of example for the Macan Electric from model year 2024. These are documented comfort settings, not a chassis or safety-system tune. Read the Taycan or Macan Electric guidance alongside your car’s own manual. Those published help pages are for Great Britain and do not establish UAE equipment availability.

A memory button cannot create electric adjustment on a car that lacks it. The exact items recalled may also depend on the installed seats and memory package. Check the equipment list before assuming a mirror position or profile ought to be stored. Mirror-position memory is separate from mirror-folding behaviour.

Online map updates and real-time traffic information are separate from basic vehicle operation. Porsche’s navigation update guidance describes, for example, automatic background map updates for 911 model years 2020 onward where the relevant data connection and active Connect services are present. For 718 model years 2017–2025, it describes a PCM update prompt and menu procedure. Older or differently equipped cars can require a Porsche Centre update. These are model-year examples, not universal instructions for every PCM generation or UAE contract.

If an online service stops working, check the Porsche ID link, active contract, data connection and privacy setting according to the manual before assuming hardware failure. Porsche explains that expired Connect service can suspend some online functions, including real-time traffic, on certain 718, 911, Panamera, Macan and Cayenne model years while core driving and safety functions remain available. See its model-year list and explanation. Availability of a particular service in Dubai must be confirmed in the UAE Connect Store for the actual car.

Leave safety logic to approved procedures

Driver assistance, braking, stability control, lighting and chassis systems can have documented driver-facing controls on some cars. Use only the controls described for your model and follow the warnings in its manual. Do not retune PTV, PDCC, PSM, automatic emergency braking, headlamp control or other safety logic through undocumented coding. Public roads are no place to test altered handling.

If a warning appears, a function behaves abnormally, or a sensor or control unit has been replaced, a workshop can identify the fault and the model-specific repair and calibration procedure. A diagnostic scan may identify a reporting system, but it does not prove that a missing option can be enabled. Avoid treating a fault, an unavailable option and an expired online contract as the same problem.

Check what your car actually has

  • Record the VIN, model year and exact model or variant. Use Porsche’s owner manual and original equipment details for that car.
  • Look for the relevant normal menu or memory controls while the car is parked. Do not follow a coding tutorial to make an absent safety menu appear.
  • For connected services, check the Porsche ID and the UAE Connect Store account for the registered vehicle, including eligibility and any active contract.
  • If a control is present but does not work as described, note the exact message, conditions and recent repairs before requesting diagnosis.

A feature that is missing from a general Porsche video may simply be an option on another generation or market. Likewise, a setting that resets may involve a user profile, a key association or a fault. It should not be called a disabled factory function without checking. Before approving a proposed modification, ask the applicable warranty provider whether it affects your coverage.

When to ask the workshop

If the manual says your fitted feature should work but it does not, or there is a related warning, PorscheGarage can discuss a Porsche diagnostic appointment. Send the model year, VIN or equipment details, the exact message and what you have already checked. The workshop can assess the complaint and explain any further test or approved repair before work is authorised. This is not an offer to unlock unspecified functions.
