Porsche Cayman Clutch Replacement In Dubai
Clutch slipping, a high bite point, judder or difficult gear selection? We inspect the clutch, dual-mass flywheel, release system and hydraulics before recommending parts.
Manual clutch replacement: AED 6,500–10,000 including 5% VAT. A clutch and dual-mass flywheel commonly costs AED 9,000–15,000. Free initial health and computer fault checks are available for relevant enquiries.

Clutch symptoms and likely next steps
Pedal feel, gear selection and noise can point to different parts. A clutch kit should not be ordered from one symptom alone, especially when a hydraulic fault or flywheel can feel similar.
| What you notice | What may be happening | Useful next step |
|---|---|---|
| Engine speed rises without matching road speed | The friction disc may be slipping under load. Heat can also damage the pressure plate and flywheel surface. | Avoid repeated full-throttle tests. Arrange a controlled inspection before slip becomes severe. |
| High bite point or weak engagement | Clutch wear is possible, but pedal mechanism, hydraulic movement and release travel also need checking. | Describe whether the change is constant or worse when hot. |
| Judder when pulling away | Uneven friction surfaces, oil contamination, dual-mass flywheel wear or damaged mounts can cause vibration. | Note whether it is worse in reverse, on an incline or after the car warms up. |
| Gears are hard to select | The clutch may not release fully. A master cylinder, slave cylinder, air, fluid loss, linkage or gearbox fault can produce the same complaint. | Stop if every shift grinds, the pedal stays down or the car moves with the pedal fully pressed. |
| Rattle or growl near the gearbox | The release bearing, flywheel, input shaft or another rotating component may be involved. How the sound changes with pedal position matters. | Send a short recording if safe, but do not keep running a loud or worsening fault. |
When should you stop driving?
Stop safely if the Cayman cannot engage or disengage a gear, the pedal remains on the floor, hydraulic fluid is leaking, every shift grinds or clutch slip is severe enough that the car no longer accelerates predictably. Pickup or recovery can prevent additional heat and driveline damage.
Manual clutch or PDK problem?
A manual Cayman has a conventional clutch pedal and serviceable clutch assembly. PDK is a different dual-clutch transmission. Warning messages, harsh automatic shifts or PDK clutch behaviour need transmission-specific scanning and testing before a repair price is offered.
Cayman clutch repair costs
These VAT-inclusive ranges are planning estimates for the described work. The written quote identifies the clutch brand, flywheel decision, required hardware, labour and any additional repair before work starts.
| Service | Estimated total | What the estimate covers |
|---|---|---|
| Initial clutch and driveline check | Free for relevant enquiries | Discussion of the symptom, initial pedal, leak and operation checks, plus a computer fault check when relevant. Dismantling and extended testing are separate. |
| Focused diagnosis and road test | AED 300–700 | Controlled symptom verification where safe, hydraulic and linkage checks, relevant fault memory and a repair recommendation. |
| Clutch hydraulic repair | AED 900–3,500 | A matched master cylinder, slave cylinder, hose or related component as quoted, normal labour, fluid and bleeding. Gearbox removal is not included unless stated. |
| Manual clutch kit replacement | AED 6,500–10,000 | Matched friction disc, pressure plate and release components, gearbox removal and refitting, required normal hardware and final pedal, shift and road checks. |
| Clutch kit and dual-mass flywheel | AED 9,000–15,000 | Clutch-kit work plus the correct new dual-mass flywheel, required bolts and final verification. Performance variants can exceed this range. |
| PDK diagnosis | AED 500–1,200 | Fault scan, live-data and adaptation review, fluid or leak checks and targeted testing. PDK clutch, mechatronic or internal repair is quoted separately. |
What changes the final price?
The 987, 981 and 718 generations use different clutch, flywheel, release and transmission parts. Original Porsche or suitable supplier-branded parts, flywheel condition, oil contamination, hydraulic faults, damaged mounts, performance variants and previous modifications all affect the total.
What is quoted separately?
A rear-main or gearbox-input seal, damaged fork or pivot, gearbox repair, mounts, cables, machining, PDK internal work and recovery are separate unless the written estimate lists them. We explain findings that become visible after gearbox removal before adding work.

Clutch kit, flywheel or hydraulics?
Gearbox removal is a large part of the labour on a manual Cayman. The useful quotation distinguishes the worn clutch from related components that can be checked while access is available.
- Clutch kit: the friction disc, pressure plate and release parts are matched rather than mixing old and new wear components.
- Dual-mass flywheel: reused only when its movement, noise, friction surface and heat condition remain acceptable for the exact part.
- Hydraulic repair: the master cylinder, slave cylinder, hose or leak is replaced when testing confirms poor pressure or movement.
- Oil seal repair: a confirmed engine or gearbox leak is addressed before it contaminates the replacement friction surface.
How the clutch replacement is completed
- 01
Confirm the complaint
We assess slip, bite point, pedal action, noise, judder and gear engagement, including a road test when safe.
- 02
Check external causes
Hydraulics, fluid loss, mounts, linkage and relevant fault memory are checked before gearbox removal is approved.
- 03
Inspect during access
The clutch, release parts, flywheel and leak sources are inspected after removal, with any changed recommendation explained.
- 04
Fit and verify
Approved parts are installed, disturbed systems are restored and pedal, shift, leak and road checks are completed.
Similar symptoms, different repairs
Pedal feel alone does not identify one failed part. The pattern under load, during shifts and with the pedal pressed separates clutch wear from hydraulic, flywheel and gearbox faults.
Slip under load
Engine speed rises faster than road speed. A worn disc, oil contamination or weak pressure-plate clamping may be responsible.
Difficult gear selection
Resistance in first or reverse can come from hydraulic travel, air, linkage or release parts, not only the clutch kit.
Judder when moving off
Flywheel wear, contamination, hot spots or mounts can cause vibration. Note whether it changes cold, hot or in reverse.
Noise as the pedal moves
A growl or rattle that changes with pedal position can involve the release bearing, fork, flywheel or gearbox input parts.
Parts matched to your Cayman
Cayman, Cayman S, GTS and GT4 badges cover different engines, torque outputs and transmissions. The VIN and installed gearbox confirm the clutch diameter, flywheel, release parts, bolts and hydraulic components.
987 Cayman
Manual cars can have age-related clutch, flywheel, hydraulic, mount, linkage and seal concerns. Earlier and later 987 specifications are not treated as one kit.
981 Cayman
Manual variants need generation-specific clutch and flywheel parts. GT4 and other performance applications may use different components and pricing from a standard Cayman.
718 Cayman
Manual 718 models need parts matched to the fitted engine and gearbox. PDK cars require a separate transmission assessment rather than a manual-clutch quotation.

For automatic shift faults, warning messages or PDK concerns, see the separate Porsche transmission repair service. For maintenance and other model-specific work, visit the Cayman service page.
Three Cayman clutch estimates
These are planning examples, not claims about completed customer vehicles. Each total includes 5% VAT for the listed work. The exact transmission, selected parts and inspection findings determine the written quotation.
Clutch hydraulic repair
Concern: pedal occasionally remains low and reverse is difficult to select, with no confirmed clutch slip.
Included: focused checks, matched hydraulic component, normal labour, fluid, bleeding and gear-engagement verification.
AED 2,150
A clutch kit or gearbox removal is outside this example.
Clutch kit replacement
Concern: confirmed slip under load with a flywheel that remains within its applicable reuse limits.
Included: matched clutch kit, release components, normal hardware, gearbox labour and final shift and road checks.
AED 8,400
Flywheel, oil-seal and mount replacement are separate.
Clutch and flywheel
Concern: clutch slip and judder with confirmed dual-mass flywheel wear after access.
Included: matched clutch kit, dual-mass flywheel, release components, required bolts, gearbox labour and final checks.
AED 13,250
Performance-variant parts or unrelated gearbox work change the total.

Clutch repair turnaround
Initial checks can often be completed during the first workshop visit. A manual clutch replacement commonly needs 2–4 working days once the correct parts are available. A flywheel, seal, hydraulic or gearbox finding can extend the visit.
We first separate clutch wear from hydraulic, mount, linkage, flywheel and gearbox concerns.
Subject to parts availability, gearbox access and findings after removal.
Tell us if the car cannot select a gear or move safely so transport can be planned.
Before handover, we check pedal movement, clutch engagement, gear selection, leaks and the original symptom. A road test is completed when the vehicle is safe and the repair permits it.
Arrange your clutch inspection
PorscheGarage.ae operates through AMF Auto Services LLC in Al Quoz 4, Dubai. Start with the Cayman year, whether it is manual or PDK, and a short description of the symptom. Mileage, a video and service history can follow if useful.
We provide a written estimate before approved work starts. Eligible repairs follow the published 12-month parts-and-labour warranty policy.
Workshop hours: Monday–Saturday, 9:00 AM–7:00 PM. Sunday closed. Call +971 56 464 6081.
A quotation that can be compared properly
The estimate names the clutch-kit choice, labour, release components, flywheel treatment, normal hardware, fluids and VAT. It also identifies any seal, hydraulic or mount work that remains separate.
If the gearbox is removed and another condition becomes visible, we explain the finding and price before adding work. A flywheel is not added from mileage alone, and a hydraulic problem is not automatically turned into a complete clutch replacement.
At handover, the invoice records the approved parts and work. Keep it with the Cayman service history and report any new leak, pedal change or engagement problem promptly.
Cayman clutch questions
Call if the car cannot select a gear or move safely. For a normal estimate, send the year, transmission and symptom.
How much does Cayman clutch replacement cost in Dubai?
A manual clutch-kit replacement is estimated at AED 6,500–10,000 including 5% VAT. A clutch kit with dual-mass flywheel is estimated at AED 9,000–15,000. Hydraulic repairs can be AED 900–3,500. Model, parts and findings after access determine the written total.
How can I tell whether the clutch is slipping?
Engine speed rises without a matching increase in road speed, often under load or in a higher gear. Avoid repeatedly forcing the clutch to slip because this produces heat and can damage the flywheel surface.
Does a high bite point always mean the clutch is worn out?
No. It can accompany friction wear, but pedal mechanism, hydraulics, release movement and the behaviour under load should also be checked. Pedal position alone does not identify the repair.
Should the dual-mass flywheel be replaced with every clutch?
Not automatically. Its movement, return action, noise, heat marks and friction surface should be assessed against the applicable component guidance. Replacement is appropriate when condition no longer supports reliable reuse.
Can a hydraulic fault feel like clutch failure?
Yes. A master cylinder, slave cylinder, hose, fluid leak or air can reduce release travel and make gears difficult to select even when the friction disc is not the main problem.
Is PDK clutch repair the same service?
No. PDK is a dual-clutch transmission without a conventional clutch pedal. Diagnosis can involve fault memory, live data, adaptation, fluid condition, mechatronics and internal transmission checks. It needs a separate quotation.
How long does Cayman clutch replacement take?
A manual clutch replacement commonly needs 2–4 working days once the correct parts are available. Flywheel replacement, seal work, ordered parts or gearbox findings can extend the visit.
Can I drive with a slipping clutch?
Mild slip can worsen quickly and generate heat. Stop if slip is severe, the pedal stays down, fluid leaks, gears cannot be selected or vehicle movement is unpredictable. Arrange pickup or recovery rather than risking further damage.
What should a clutch quotation include?
Check the clutch-kit brand, release components, flywheel decision, normal hardware, seals, fluids, gearbox removal and refitting, hydraulic work, 5% VAT and final testing. Optional or additional work should be shown separately.
