911 convertible-top repair prices

Compare the work you need, not just the lowest advertised roof price. A covering-only job and a complete roof assembly include very different parts and fitting.

Planning estimates in AED, including a 5% VAT allowance. These are not confirmed fixed workshop prices.
Repair optionEstimated totalWhat the estimate covers
Localized electrical repairAED 1,200–3,500Identified wiring, switch or related control repair, normal access and operation checks. A replacement control unit or extensive water-damaged wiring is separate.
Mechanical roof repairAED 1,500–5,000+Repair of the identified latch, linkage or movement fault, normal fitting labour and final checks. Frame damage or multiple failed components can exceed this range.
Hydraulic-system repairAED 2,000–5,500Work on the affected cylinder, hose, pump or circuit as quoted, refitting and operation checks. The range is not a price for replacing every hydraulic component.
Fabric repair or renewalAED 3,500–8,500+Agreed covering work, compatible material and normal fitting. Rear glass, inner lining, seals and frame work are separate unless expressly included.
Alternative replacement assemblyAED 10,000–18,000+A suitable available alternative assembly, ordinary fitting and checks. Specification and condition must be agreed. A complete new genuine assembly requires its own quotation.

These are planning ranges, not fixed offers. Parts condition, access, material choice and concealed damage change the final total. Your written quote states the selected parts, labour, tests, exclusions and VAT-inclusive amount. Extended testing or dismantling is priced separately if needed.

Get a price for your roof: tell us what is happening. You do not need to diagnose the failed part.

Start with what the roof does

What does your roof need?

A 911 Cabriolet roof combines controls, moving parts, fabric, hydraulics and weather seals. The way it fails helps define the first checks, but you do not need to identify the failed part before contacting us.

01

The roof stops or moves unevenly

Interrupted movement can involve the latch, linkage, motor, position information, power supply or another part of the operating sequence.

Stop cycling the roof if it binds or sits unevenly.
02

The roof is slow or losing pressure

A leaking cylinder or hose, a pump problem and a mechanical obstruction require different repairs. Slow movement does not prove the pump needs replacement.

Mention visible fluid or a change in operating speed.
03

The fabric leaks, lifts or makes noise

Fabric condition, stitching, roof tension, seals, drainage, glass contact and alignment can all affect water entry or wind noise.

Tell us where water or noise first appears.

A warning message helps describe the complaint, but it does not identify the part to replace. We check roof operation and condition before quoting the repair.

Call about the roof
Closure and weather sealing

A roof that fits the car properly

Repairing movement and stopping a leak are different outcomes. The checks after repair need to reflect the problem you booked in for.

Header and side-window contact

The roof must meet the windshield header and side glass correctly. Worn seals, disturbed adjustment or latch wear can leave wind noise despite an apparently closed roof. A problem that began after glass or trim work may need adjustment rather than new fabric.

Check the repair, not just the warning

Movement repairs include relevant opening, closing and latching checks. For water-entry work, the agreed repair is checked for the reported leak. Replacing a part or clearing a message alone does not demonstrate that both operation and sealing are correct.

Repair or renew

Keep the sound parts of your roof

Choose a localized repair, a new covering or a replacement assembly according to condition. Replacing everything is not the automatic answer to a roof fault.

Localized repair

This makes sense when the fault is isolated and the surrounding assembly remains serviceable. The repaired area can function correctly while unrelated ageing remains elsewhere, so the quotation distinguishes the repair from a complete restoration.

Covering replacement

Renewing fabric can preserve a sound mechanism. Agree the material, colour, rear-window specification and items being reused before ordering. Existing stains or damage to the inner lining do not disappear simply because the outer covering is new.

Assembly replacement

Extensive frame damage, several major failures or unavailable repair parts can change the decision. Compare the fitted price and condition of a genuine new assembly, a compatible alternative and a used unit where available. A cheaper used assembly still needs its compatibility and condition checked.

Cabriolet, not coupe or Targa

Roof parts matched to your 911

This page covers the folding fabric top on the 911 Cabriolet. A Targa roof and a coupe sunroof are different systems and need a separate assessment.

What changes when we assess and price the roof repair
911 generationWhat mattersUseful information
Classic 911Originality, previous repairs, material condition and parts availability can matter more than a standard price band.Share the model year and whether the roof is original or previously restored.
996 and 997Fabric condition, seal wear, rear-window specification and hydraulic-component condition affect what can be retained.Describe slow movement, visible leakage, poor closure or water entry.
991The exact variant and fitted roof equipment determine compatible parts, access and post-repair checks.Record intermittent warnings and whether the roof stops at the same point.
992Later components must match the car’s specification and work correctly with the complete operating sequence.Send the model year and symptom first. The VIN can follow if needed for parts matching.

Earlier, modified and imported 911 Cabriolets can also be assessed. Start with the model and what the roof is doing. Routine maintenance remains available through our Porsche 911 service team and is priced separately.

Three example costs

How the repair changes the quotation

These are estimated examples, not completed customer jobs. Each total includes a 5% VAT allowance and the work described, subject to inspection and parts selection.

Estimated example 01

997 Carrera Cabriolet

A slow-moving roof with an identified localized hydraulic leak.

Estimated AED 3,200–4,800

Inspect the affected circuit, repair or replace the identified hydraulic item as quoted, refit accessible trim and check operation.

Assumes the frame, covering and remaining hydraulic parts can be retained. A new genuine component versus a repair to the existing item changes the total.

Estimated example 02

991 Carrera S Cabriolet

Worn outer fabric with a serviceable folding mechanism.

Estimated AED 6,500–8,500+

Assess the frame and rear-window arrangement, supply a compatible covering in an agreed material, fit it and check tension and closure.

Separate rear-glass, lining, seal or frame replacement is excluded. Material availability and concealed deterioration can increase the quotation.

Estimated example 03

992 Carrera Cabriolet

Interrupted operation caused by an identified localized electrical fault.

Estimated AED 1,800–3,500

Assess the affected circuit, complete a suitable wiring or switch repair, then check roof operation and relevant stored faults.

Excludes a complete control unit, extensive water-damaged wiring and unrelated roof damage. The estimate is not for replacing the entire electrical system.

From enquiry to collection

Your roof repair, clearly agreed

The initial fault inspection is free. You receive a written quotation before repair work starts, with separately priced dismantling or extended testing explained if required.

  1. 01

    Describe the problem

Tell us you have a 911 Cabriolet and explain what the roof is doing. A model year, photograph or short video can help, but you do not need a technical diagnosis to book.

  2. 02

    Confirm the repair choice

The inspection identifies the parts that need attention. Where repair and replacement are both suitable, compare their fitted cost, parts condition and expected result.

  3. 03

    Approve price and timing

The quotation lists parts, labour, relevant checks and the VAT-inclusive total. The expected completion date follows the agreed work and parts availability.

  4. 04

    Check the repaired roof

Relevant movement, latching and sealing checks follow the approved repair. At collection, review the work completed and keep the invoice with the car’s records.

Free pickup and delivery can be arranged when booking, subject to collection availability. A WhatsApp enquiry prepares the request; it does not confirm an appointment.

When the roof will not close

Protect the roof from further damage

If the roof binds, sits unevenly or stops partway, stop operating it. Do not force the mechanism or drive with the roof unsecured.

Call the workshop and describe its current position. If the car is outside, mention that when arranging collection so suitable transport and arrival can be discussed. Keep people, luggage and loose items away from the moving mechanism.

For an intermittent problem

A photograph of the warning or a short video can help show a fault that disappears before the appointment. Record only while safely stationary and keep clear of moving parts. Note whether the problem follows washing or recent roof work, but do not repeatedly cycle a roof that is struggling.

For a car that closes securely but admits water, arrange attention before moisture spreads through trim or electrical areas. Tell us where water first appears; there is no need to remove the interior yourself.

911 convertible-top questions

Direct answers about repair, prices and arranging a visit.

Can a 911 convertible top be repaired without replacing it?

Yes, when the failed component can be repaired or replaced separately and the rest of the roof remains serviceable. A damaged switch, localized hydraulic leak or worn latch does not automatically mean a new roof. Extensive frame damage or several deteriorated components may make replacement the better choice.

How much does Porsche 911 convertible-top repair cost in Dubai?

Planning estimates start at AED 1,200 for some localized electrical repairs. Hydraulic repairs are estimated at AED 2,000–5,500 and fabric work at AED 3,500–8,500 or more. These budgets include a 5% VAT allowance, not a confirmed fixed workshop tariff. The repair and parts selected determine your written quotation.

Will replacing the soft top stop every water leak?

No. A leak can originate at a seal, blocked or damaged drainage path, window contact area or roof alignment rather than the fabric. Replacing sound fabric would leave those causes unresolved. The leak source is checked so the quotation addresses the affected area.

How long does a convertible-top repair take?

There is no confirmed standard turnaround for every roof repair. Localized wiring or adjustment work generally involves less work than fabric renewal or a complete assembly replacement. Diagnosis, parts sourcing and fitting all affect collection timing. We confirm the expected completion date after identifying the repair and checking availability.

Do you repair 996, 997, 991 and 992 Cabriolets?

We assess roof repairs across these 911 Cabriolet generations, along with earlier and modified cars. The fitted mechanism, covering and component specification determine the work. You do not need to identify the roof equipment before contacting us; the workshop can request further details when matching parts.

Are genuine parts the only option?

Not always. Depending on the component, repairing the existing part or fitting a compatible alternative may be possible. A genuine new part, an alternative new part and a used assembly are different purchases. Your quotation identifies the selected option, its condition and the fitting work.

Can I drive with the roof stuck partly open?

Do not drive with an unsecured or jammed roof. Stop operating it if it binds or moves unevenly, and do not force it closed. Call with a description of its position so suitable transport can be arranged if needed. Keep people and belongings clear of the mechanism.

Is the initial roof inspection free?

The initial fault inspection and computer diagnostics are free. Dismantling or extended specialist testing, if needed, is explained and priced separately before it proceeds. Free vehicle pickup and delivery can be arranged when booking; collection timing is subject to availability.
