The initial fault check is free. The figures below are indicative budgets, not confirmed workshop prices or fixed packages. They allow for parts, labour and 5% VAT for the work described. We confirm the itemised total before you authorise repairs.

What can change the price?
Mid-engine access, seized fasteners, cylinder damage and specialist machining can increase labour and parts costs. A quotation should identify the parts brand, engine condition and anything being reused. Separate faults such as a damaged turbocharger, catalytic converter, clutch or transmission are excluded unless listed.
How long should you allow?
Plan for roughly 1–3 working days for many contained repairs and 1–3 weeks for major engine work after approval. These are planning estimates. Imported parts, engine sourcing and machining may take longer; we confirm the expected completion date for your car.

Repair the existing engine
A targeted repair is often suitable for oil leaks, failed cooling components, crankcase ventilation faults or a localised cylinder-head problem. It keeps the original engine and avoids replacing healthy components. Persistent smoke or a warning light alone does not establish that the engine is beyond repair.
Rebuild worn internals
A rebuild may suit an engine with internal wear when its major castings can be reused. The quote should state the machining, pistons, bearings, seals and timing components included. “Rebuilt” does not mean every part is new, so compare the actual work and warranty.
Fit a replacement engine
Replacement can be practical after extensive damage or when a suitable unit offers better value. We match the engine code and installation requirements to the car. Compare a used engine’s history and condition with the specified work on a reconditioned unit, plus the total installed price.

Cylinder heads, timing and internal damage
Overheating, poor compression and mechanical noise can require work on valves, cylinder heads, timing chains or internal bearings. Oil leaks, smoke and cooling problems
Oil consumption or smoke may involve the air-oil separator, seals or internal wear. Coolant loss may come from hoses, the expansion tank, water pump or another cooling component. We locate the source before replacing parts. Correct oil, filters, seals and coolant are included where required by the agreed repair.
When to stop driving
Stop safely and switch off the engine for a red oil-pressure warning, overheating or heavy knocking. A flashing engine light with severe rough running also needs prompt attention. Call us to arrange collection; continuing to drive can turn a repairable fault into major damage.

Boxster engines differ across generations and specifications. Earlier flat-six engines, later naturally aspirated units, 718 turbocharged four-cylinder engines and the 4.0-litre six-cylinder need different parts and repair decisions.

Boxster engine repair questions
Does a check-engine light mean I need a replacement engine?
Usually, the warning alone cannot tell you that. Ignition coils, spark plugs, air leaks, fuel delivery and sensors can cause engine warnings without internal engine damage. Tell us whether the light is steady or flashing and whether the car is running roughly. Replacement is considered only when the actual fault and repair costs justify it.
Can you repair my Boxster engine instead of replacing it?
Yes, where the damage is limited and the remaining engine is serviceable. Fixing a leak, air-oil separator, cooling fault or cylinder-head problem can preserve the existing engine. Widespread cylinder, crankshaft or bearing damage may make a rebuild or replacement more practical. We explain the options before you commit.
How much does a Boxster engine replacement cost in Dubai?
Allow approximately AED 17,000–34,000+ for a used or reconditioned engine installation, or AED 32,000–58,000+ for a new or premium replacement option. These are indicative budgets including 5% VAT, not confirmed business prices. The exact engine code, unit condition, availability and installation requirements determine the quotation.
Is IMS bearing failure a concern on every Boxster?
No. IMS-bearing concerns apply to particular earlier engine designs, not every Boxster or every model year. We identify the engine and its history before recommending work. An IMS concern, bore scoring and an external oil leak are different problems and should not be treated as the same repair.
Do you work on the 718 Boxster and Boxster S?
Yes. We cover 986, 987 and 981 Boxsters, plus 718 variants with turbocharged four-cylinder or 4.0-litre six-cylinder engines. Parts and repair requirements depend on the exact engine, so send the VIN and model year rather than relying on the model badge alone.

Can you collect a Boxster that is not safe to drive?
