What can change the price?
Bose or Burmester equipment, the exact part number, board corrosion, damaged connectors and availability of a suitable replacement. Used, refurbished and new parts are priced separately so you can compare them.
Leak tracing and sealing, replacement speakers, PCM repairs, extensive loom repairs and extra trim work are separate unless listed. Confirm whether a diagnostic charge is included or credited; do not add every table row together.
How long will it take?
Initial assessment may be completed the same day by appointment. A straightforward connection repair may also be possible that day. Bench repair, drying, extensive corrosion or ordered modules require additional days.
The workshop confirms the completion estimate after testing and checking parts availability. Send the model year and symptoms before visiting if you need the car back by a particular date.
Keep your amplifier or replace it?
A silent system does not automatically mean you need a new amplifier. If the amplifier has failed, we compare repairability, replacement cost and compatibility before you decide.
- Repair your original unit
- Suitable when the fault can be isolated and the board remains repairable. Keeping the original hardware can avoid some replacement compatibility issues.
- Choose a refurbished unit
- An option when the original is uneconomical to repair. Confirm the supplier’s testing, matching part number, exchange requirement and whether a core deposit applies.
- Fit a new amplifier
- Consider this when repair is unreliable or you prefer a new part. The quotation identifies the manufacturer, installation and any required coding.
A used amplifier is not the same as a refurbished one. Ask what has been tested or renewed before comparing two prices. We check external wiring and speaker faults so they do not damage the repaired or replacement unit.
Bose, Burmester and your Cayenne generation
The engine badge does not identify the audio system. A Cayenne, S, GTS, Turbo or E-Hybrid can have different factory equipment, so the model year and fitted sound package matter when ordering parts.

Check the original equipment and any later stereo modifications. Ageing connectors, previous wiring repairs and moisture can affect the amplifier and its communication.

Confirm the factory audio option, complete amplifier part number and revision. A listing that says “fits Cayenne” is not enough to guarantee compatibility.
9Y0 and later vehicles
Hardware and software configuration need to match the fitted infotainment system. Share the VIN when available so the workshop can check the correct replacement.
Bose and Burmester amplifiers are not interchangeable simply because the connectors look similar. Speaker channels, electrical loads and configuration can differ. Fibre-optic MOST communication is checked where fitted; not every Cayenne uses the same audio architecture.

Fix the leak as well as the sound
Damp luggage-area trim or corrosion near the amplifier changes the repair. A replacement module can fail again if water continues to reach its connectors or housing.
We assess the module, connections and nearby wiring, then explain any separate leak investigation. Depending on the vehicle, drains, seals or previous body repairs may need attention. Dry-looking trim does not prove the electronics underneath are undamaged.
Smell burning, notice smoke or find repeated fuse failures? Switch off safely and call for advice. Do not keep powering a wet module or repeatedly replacing a blown fuse.

Cayenne amplifier repair questions
Can my original Cayenne amplifier be repaired?
It may be repairable if the internal fault can be isolated and the circuit board is not extensively corroded or burned. Testing determines whether repair is worthwhile. We explain the repair and replacement options before you approve the work.
Will a used amplifier work without coding?
Do not assume it will. The complete part number, hardware revision, sound package and vehicle configuration must match. Coding or additional configuration may be needed. Check compatibility before buying a used module.
Is no sound always an amplifier fault?
No. A missing power supply, poor ground, communication fault, PCM problem or shorted speaker circuit can also silence the system. If only Bluetooth or one source is affected, tell the workshop; this changes the checks needed.
Do you inspect Bose and Burmester audio systems?
Yes. We inspect factory premium audio faults and check the fitted system before recommending repair or replacement. Availability and repairability depend on the exact module; the two sound systems do not use interchangeable amplifiers.
Can I drive with a faulty amplifier?
Missing music alone does not necessarily stop the car being driven, but audible prompts or parking tones may also be affected. Arrange a check. For burning smells, smoke, overheating, water around electronics or repeated fuse failures, stop safely and call before continuing.
Can you repair the PCM screen at the same time?
Tell us if the screen freezes, restarts or stays blank. The PCM head unit and amplifier do different jobs and may need separate work. The quotation should identify which component is faulty rather than treating every infotainment problem as amplifier failure.
Can I upgrade to Burmester while replacing the amplifier?
An amplifier swap alone is not a complete sound-system upgrade. Speakers, wiring, configuration and other components may differ. This service focuses on restoring the fitted system; discuss a proposed retrofit before buying parts.
What should I send for an estimate?
Start with your Cayenne model year and a description or short video of the fault. Mention water entry, battery drain or recent stereo work. A VIN or amplifier-label photo can help confirm parts, but you do not need to remove trim to make an enquiry.
